Picking the Right Pushchair

By Jason Koumas

Waiting for your baby to arrive is one of the most exciting experiences you will ever have in life. With all that joy that comes with raising children, plenty of responsibilities and expenses are also inevitable. Preparing for your baby means that you have to set aside money to purchase items that will be needed once a baby is born, which includes items like cribs, baby monitors and of course pushchairs.

Choosing the right pushchair can be confusing since there are so many different price ranges and options available. In order to make sure that you get a pushchair that will meet your needs, look at a few key factors before making your final decision.

1. Decide on the type of pram or pushchair that you would like to buy. This would include models that are just pushchairs, while others offer a 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 configuration that allows the child to grow with the pram.

2. If you have more than one child who's young enough to ride in a carrycot, you may want to consider buying a 2 seater model.

3. Portability and weight is a big issue. If you plan to travel, make sure it fits into your car and still leaves room for other luggage and ensure that you can easily lift it and carry it when necessary.

4. Shop around for the best price. Prices can vary between retail stores and online stores, so shop around and compare identical models.

5. Read reviews of the specific model that you are looking for. Customers who already own the pushchair in question can offer some valuable insight.

6. Don't base your decision on aesthetics. Some great looking prams, pushchairs and carrycots are poor quality and won't last. If you plan to use it for your next child, you want to look for durability.

Following these few suggestions can help you get the right pushchair for your needs.
